My dearest supporters and friends,
My other passion mission, #UkrainianSpaces, is starting our 2023 season with a live show. As always, we’ll focus on our global mission to amplify diverse Ukrainian voices and decolonize all conversations about Ukraine. Launched in March 2022 by two Ukrainians – activist Valeriia Voshchevska and me – it has amassed over 120,000 listens and has been trending in the top-podcast charts in over two dozen countries. To mark almost one year of Ukraine’s glorious resistance to the genocide waged by Russia, UkrainianSpaces will launch our Season 3 premiere with the first live-audience show and gather a group of brilliant, young, and defiant Ukrainians (and their allies).
The purpose of this show, and Ukrainian Spaces’ vision for the future, is to remind the world of:
Ukraine’s victory
Ukraine’s rebuilding
The end of Russian colonialism
The end of any forms of colonialism and imperialism
A Europe after Russia loses: free, diverse, and decolonized
The speakers to be featured:
Mariam Naiem is a prominent Ukrainian artist and researcher working on mainstreaming global understanding of the colonial and racial aspects of Russian culture concerning Ukraine and other peoples colonized by Russia.
Yulia Krivich, a Ukrainian artist behind SDK "Słonecznik", a Ukrainian Solidary Community Center in Warsaw
Marichka Buchelnikova and Stas Olenchenko of the Ukraine Explainers storytelling initiative, a leading outlet for educating foreigners about Ukraine in social-media-friendly formats.
Botakoz Kassymbekova, a prominent researcher of colonialism and Qazaq scholar behind the term 'Russian imperial innocence.'
Yulia Tymoshenko, a leading Ukrainian storyteller, and social media influencer educating the world about the Russian invasion of Ukraine
and more.
